Chemical Stripping

Chemical stripping is the process of where an item is placed into an acid to strip off a prior finish. We commonly use this to strip of previous paint or previous powder coat from an project. We use “Rim Strip”, this is a blend of Methylene Chloride and Hydrofluoric Acid. Our stripper can be used on steel and aluminum only.

Our way: We safely use PPE and protective measures to ensure the stripper is contained in our wash bay. The parts that need stripped are gently lowered into the acid for intervals of time until the finish is fully stripped. The parts are then removed from the acid and placed into a neutralizing solution to ensure the containment of the acid. The parts are then placed into our wash bay and power washed extensively to remove any remaining finish or acid. This is a step in preparing our projects for powder coat, but could be done independently if a customer desires.
